SkyLabs Indonesia is a private research and education initiative under the Labirin Nusantara Foundation, focusing on advancing astronomy and STEM awareness across the archipelago.

We believe that science belongs to everyone—not only in classrooms and labs, but in everyday life. Through public engagement, research, and accessible education, we aim to make the cosmos part of Indonesia’s cultural and intellectual fabric.

SkyLabs was born from a shared concern: that science in Indonesia often remains distant, unreachable, and formulaic. Founded by a group of astronomers and science enthusiasts, we envisioned a movement that utilizes science and astronomy to ignite curiousity and critical thinking.

With nothing but the sky and imagination, we began holding some discussion nights. Hopefully, SkyLabs will grow into a community-driven initiative; serving schools, villages, and cities alike.

Philosophy

Why does the sun shine? Why doesn't the moon fall? How did the universe begin?

Those are questions of curiosity that are frequently asked as children. However, as they grow older, such questions become increasingly rare, despite not exactly vanished. Curiosity does not vanish. It might just be buried deep in your thoughts, covered by everyday business.

Here, you will find astronomy not as a mere facts and knowledge. You will observe it. You will explore it. You will peel it piece by piece. And before you know it, you will have escalated your critical thinking and digged your curiosity back to the surface.

Affiliation

SkyLabs Indonesia is one of three synergistic movements under the Labirin Nusantara Foundation, alongside NCO Indonesia (community coffee shops) and Palapan (cultural initiative).

Together, we pursue a holistic vision of national development through science, culture, and empowerment.
